Jose Zendejas Jr was born and raised in the north side of Chicago. He was born with cerebral palsy and had many physical limitations growing up. While other children turned to active sports for curricular activities, Zendejas shifted his creativity into art. He would spend hours reading comic books as a child and at the age of 10, despite the fact that he was physically capable of utilizing only one hand, he learned how to draw and sketch comics book characters.
After graduating high school, he attended the American Academy of Art to turn his passion into a career. While majoring in Illustration, he was then introduced to various art classes that sharpened his artistic skills. He then later became member at the Palette and Chisel Academy of Arts in Chicago. There, he practiced life drawing, watercolor and portrait painting. Zendejas is now a professional artist that specializes in oil figures and portraits.
